AF Art Collection (2010.110) by Thomas Herzberg
This painting was inspired by the way the engine looks with the side panels opened like the wings of a bird, the unbelievable complexity of the engine itself, the impressive size of the engine, and the colors of the area. The engine looks as if it is anxious to get back in the air, uncomfortable here on the ground inside this building, and having to sit patiently while the doctors make it say “ahhh”.
General Ronald Fogleman created the CSAF Professional Reading Program in 1996 to develop a common frame of reference among Air Force members -- officers, enlisted, and civilians -- to help each of us become better, more effective advocates of air and space power. Each CSAF since then has enhanced and continued the Professional Reading Program.
