Photographers Narrative

As the war on terrorism continued during Operation Enduring Freedom, an F-16 Fighting Falcon monitored the sunny afternoon skies of Afghanistan.  Hardware is the bread and butter of what we shoot and getting shots like this one is one of the most exciting things I get to do.  In need of fuel, the F-16 linked up with and was refueled by a KC-135 Stratotanker from the 340th Expeditionary Air Refueling Squadron.  After being refueled the F-16 broke away and released flares against the sun filled clouds of Afghanistan.
