Canadian special operation regiment calls in air strikes during Emerald Warrior 2013, Eglin Range, Fla., April 26. The primary purpose of Emerald Warrior is to exercise special operations components in urban and irregular warfare settings to support combatant commanders in theater campaigns. Emerald Warrior leverages lessons from Operation Iraqi Freedom, Operation Enduring Freedom and other historical lessons to provide better trained and ready forces to combatant commanders. Photographer's Narrative

This image was taken on one of my first-ever nighttime photography shoots. I was training with one of my NCO’s, and he was doing long exposure of people to our right. As I was hovering over him I noticed they were calling in more than one air strike and saw if I timed it right with when they called the strike in, I could capture the light beam of the weapon and expose for the sky. Luckily, the two calling in air strikes did not move too much and allowed for the image to be taken. After two attempts, I ended up with the image I captured.
