Photographer's Narrative

I spent more than a week with our base honor guard working on a multimedia project. When I began editing the images, I realized I had a good group of selects but I was missing an impact photo. During one of the interviews, Senior Airman Stefanie Simon mentioned the hardest thing she ever had to do was hand the flag over to someone who had lost a member of their family. I asked her if it would be something she would be willing to recreate. When they came over I took the image with just one person, but decided I wanted to bring two others in to help frame Simon in the middle and give the image more impact.
