Sweet Dreams

U.S. Air Force Staff Sergeant Christopher Samples of the 19th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron at Little Rock Air Force Base, Arkansas, takes a nap aboard a C-130 aircraft after flying a late night mission.  Sergeant Samples was helping deliver a U.S. Air Force fire engine to the Toussaint Louverture International Airport in Port-au-Prince, Haiti as part of the earthquake relief effort on January 25, 2010. Photographers Narrative

After a devastating earthquake struck the country of Haiti in 2010 members of the Department of Defense undertook a massive relief effort bringing much needed supplies and equipment to help the displaced citizens.  In photography, lighting is a good way to establish mood.  In this photo I tried to use the lighting to emphasize how hard and how late into the night American Airman worked in support of Haiti.  After participating in a late night mission Sergeant Samples takes advantage of the dim lighting aboard the aircraft and gets some much needed sleep.
