Photographers Narrative

I arrived in Afghanistan just a week before this photo was taken, and although I had never been to this girls' school, the young girls allowed me to photograph their interaction with the women's engagement team because of the trust they built with the Afghan girls. This really moved me, since this was a young Air Force first lieutenant who sat, laughed, and shared a special moment with these young girls who have very little in life. This is an example of what our provincial reconstruction teams try to accomplish every day: build trust.
