Photographers Narrative

This photo was taken during a mass casualty exercise inside the base theater, which was filled with smoke to simulate a fire in the building.  As emergency responders entered the building, I had trouble finding them because the smoke was so thick. I listened to where one firefighter was shouting from and was able to take this picture as he literally walked right in front of me. The color and haze that resulted depicts the environment firefighters must train and work in to save lives and infrastructure.
