Photographer's Narrative

I had just crouched down next to the gunner as our MI-17 helicopter climbed into the sky. While I got situated, I looked out at the vast Afghanistan countryside only to see this convoy cutting through the middle of it. I quickly pulled my camera up to capture this bird’s eye view of Air Force and NATO forces on a joint convoy. As I snapped each frame I thought to myself, ‘how could a country so beautiful have war cutting straight through it’? Joint forces continue their efforts each day so that the conflict in war riddled Afghanistan can end.
