A little about Me

Staff Sgt. John Meyer joined the Air Force in 2009 as a Crew Chief, stationed at Barksdale AFB, La. He says that some of his “best and worst times” in the Air Force were when he served as a Sole Vouching Authority for B-52’s at Minot AFB, ND, suffering through the frigid winter temperatures as he oversaw loading of nuclear resources. As a flying crew chief he has had the opportunity to provide continuous bomber support presence in the Pacific and has been involved in supporting joint operations with the Australian Air Force in 2015. That same year he was involved in the evacuation of 5 B-52’s from the Pacific theater during Typhoon Chan-Hom. Sgt. Meyer was enrolled in the program following a motorcycle accident that required extensive facial reconstruction. He says, “Getting involved in with the Air Force Wounded Warrior Program (AFW2) has allowed me to get my life back on track. It has shown me ways to adapt and overcome with the physical and mental injuries I have.”
