Multiple U.S. Air Force C-17 Globemaster III participate in Furious Moose, a large formation exercise, (LFE ) over Charleston Air Force Base, S.C., April 10, 2013. Thirteen C-17s flew during the exercise, which included airdrops, aerial refueling and low-level tactical training. The LFE is a total-force effort with aircrews consisting of active-duty Airmen from the 437th Airlift Wing and Reservists from the 315th AW, and is the first such exercise performed since 2010. This 12-ship, C-17 Globemaster formation was one of the most impressive displays of air power that I have seen in my four years in the Air Force. Performing formations like this one allows aircrews to accomplish hundreds of training requirements in a matter of hours.
