Photographer's Narrative
I love capturing photographs the show juxtaposition. During a Lt. Dan Band concert a bloodied young man gave an unusual stare at a Citadel cadet, who cracked a slight smile back. The cadet was sharp he kept his military bearing remaining at parade rest the entire time. For me the photo raises more questions than it answers, which is why I took it. I never asked the kid how his nose was bloodied, and I never asked the cadet whether he knew the guy or what his thoughts were at that time. For me that’s the beauty of capturing a moment. It has more meaning when the details are left up to interpretation.
