Photographer's Narrative

This image was taken during a TDY training mission to Marine Corp Air Station Miramar, Calif. Senior Airman Nicholas Koetz, a broadcaster from 1st Special Operations Wing Public Affairs, and I were scheduled to fly on a CV-22 Osprey when one of the engines broke, and they had to cancel the flight. We were already on the flight line and decided to get sunset photos of maintenance since we were there already. I took many images of the maintainers up closer to the plane, but Koetz asked me if I could step out of the frame so he could get a time-lapse video of the sun setting.  When I moved, I saw the sun fall at the right place and had to capture the two tones that the sky was giving me. In the end I owe a lot to Koetz for wanting this time lapse.
