Photographer's Narrative

The day I captured this image was a long and cold day. Our aircraft was broken and delayed for five hours before we were able to take off. The main issue was the ramp on the back was not opening so they decided to use the side door, and we took flight to begin the mission. We only had one pass and one chance for me to take photos as all the jumpers were leaving the aircraft. Because of the confined space, I was shoved up against the wall and had someone directly in front of me; additionally, there was a broadcaster directly across from me, so if I took the image straight on, he would have been in the background. I extended the camera over top with my arm, made sure the settings were set to expose for the light coming into the plane and captured this image as they were passing through the frame.
