This ground-finish transparent armor test piece withstood the impact of a .30 caliber armor-piercing bullet fired from 25 yards away. Shown is the test piece, which demonstrates the armor's ability to stop penetration from armor-piercing threats. (U.S. Air Force photo by Airman 1st Class Ryan Conroy/Released)

Photographer's Narrative

This was during an Honorary Commander tour, where Air Force Special Operations opened their anti-terrorism range to a select group of individuals for a few hours. They demonstrated the capabilities of different weapons, and how they affect bulletproof glass. After the glass was shot a few times, they were allowed to walk up and see the bullets inside of the glass.
