A member of the 26th Special Tactics Squadron secures the folded U.S. Flag during a retreat ceremony dedicated to the memory of Senior Airman Mark Forester, Sept. 29, 2015, at Cannon Air Force Base, N.M. Senior Airman Forester was a Special Tactics combat controller who coordinated close air support for special operations teams in hostile environments. He was killed in action when he put himself in direct line of fire to save a teammate’s life, Afghanistan, Sept. 29, 2010. I find it inspiring to capture photos that show the respect and bond we share for those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice for our freedoms. I think what made me happy with this image was the expression of the Airman holding the flag. I think body language can be a storytelling element in photos.
