A little about Me
Q. What are your short and long term goals (personal, professional, recovery-related, etc.)?
A. To move more despite my injury, be more active.
Q. What does it mean to you to represent the Air force at Warrior Games?
A. I’m still in awe. I don’t even….know. I wasn’t here to make the team, only to prove to myself that I could do something I’ve never done before.
Q. What is the significance of sports/competition? How has it helped you? What does it mean to you?
A. There are limitations that I have now, I’ve had to change my mindset to look for the things I can do instead of focusing on the things I cannot do.
Q. How did your Service’s Wounded Warrior Program (Warrior Transition Unit, Wounded Warrior Regiment, Other Service Wounded Warrior Unit) assigned or previously assigned to enhance your recovery?
A. A year ago I was an angry, bitter medically retiring technical sergeant who was angry with the Air Force and a self-professed recluse. In November 2015 I was told about a camp and event at the Pentagon. Since then I’ve changed quite a bit. I’ve lost weight. I’ve become re-motivated. Setting goals instead of falling back on old habits.
Q. Who has supported you in your training? How?
A. My mom, my entire family. My roommate back home. My roommate yells at me when I get to be too stagnant or sit on the couch for too long.
