Photographers Narrative

Basic training transforms everyday civilians into modern day warriors. I wanted to show the emotion that goes into that transformation: the sound, the sweat, the tears, all of it. Even if a person looking at the imagery has never been through military training, I hoped they could feel what this trainee was going through at that point in time. When I took this shot, the day was overcast and gloomy; it reminded me of how they film D-Day in war movies. As this trainee crawled through my lens, there was plenty of struggle, but no signs of giving up as he crawled through the remainder of the obstacle course.  It shows the true warrior spirit.
