Photographers Narrative

One of the hardest things to do as a photojournalist is being able to tell a complete story, or show someone's true character in a single image. As I saw this basic trainee stand up after dragging his face in the dirt for more than 100 meters, I knew his face embodied the emotion of what all the trainees felt as they struggled up that hill. Having the drive to not give up no matter how difficult a task, especially at an age when most are going through basic training, I feel is an extraordinary feat. The shot of this trainee speaks to all that completed the crawl up the hill that day and a warning of what is to come for those who haven't.
