Master Sergeant Levi Denham, a weather reconnaissance loadmaster assigned to the 53d Weather Reconnaissance Squadron (WRS) ''Hurricane Hunters,'' performs engine start-up inspections on a WC-130J Hercules on September 16, 2010. The 403d Wing deployed three WC-130J's from the 53d WRS to St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands, to collect data on Hurricane Igor. (U.S. Air Force photo/Staff Sgt. Manuel J. Martinez/released)

Photographers Narrative

During my tour at the 1st Combat Camera Squadron, Charleston Air Force Base, South Carolina, it felt so gratifying to accompany Hurricane Hunter crews on their missions. I shot this image at a low angle to capture the reflection of the clouds, rich color and beauty of the sky.  It allowed me to mimic a painter’s perspective.
