Photographers Narrative

This photo was taken during the devastating tornado in Moore, Okla., affecting many military families stationed at Tinker AFB. Tech. Sgt. Rhonda Stockstill took shelter with her family under the stairwell as the tornado ripped her home apart. After the tornado passed she could hear screams of children from the school nearby. As a Air Force surgical technician she had a medical go bag and ran to provide first responder medical aid. Her story of survival and heroism I wanted to capture a portrait to show what she went through on an emotional level.
