EdX is a not-for-profit enterprise of its founding partners, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology(MIT) and Harvard University that offers online learning to millions of people around the world. EdX currently offers HarvardX, MITx and BerkeleyX classes online for free.

Khan Academy

The Khan Academy is a not-for-profit educational organization, created in 2006. With the stated mission of “providing a high quality education to anyone, anywhere,” the website supplies a free online collection of more than 2,600 micro lectures via video tutorials stored on YouTube teaching mathematics, history, finance, physics, chemistry, biology, astronomy, economics, and computer science.

In 1999, MIT Faculty considered how to use the Internet in pursuit of MIT’s mission—to advance knowledge and educate students—and in 2000 proposed OCW. MIT published the first proof-of-concept site in 2002, containing 50 courses. By November 2007, MIT completed the initial publication of virtually the entire curriculum, over 1,800 courses in 33 academic disciplines. Going forward, the OCW team is updating existing courses and adding new content and services to the site.

PBS: Frontline

Frontline is a public affairs television program that produces and broadcasts in-depth documentaries about various subjects. The program has been critically acclaimed and received numerous awards. Some programs are made by independent filmmakers and broadcast as part of the Frontline series. Since the series debut, there have been more than 500 films broadcast. Although primarily seen through television, the program shows a large portion of their shows in interactive webcasts on their main website.
